Here are my choices for the best places to hang your hat during
your visit to the Southwest.
BED & BREAKFAST: Premium
This may be Sedona´s best option, with more than 2/3´s
of the state´s 4 diamond B&B´s located here. You´ll
usually find a full breakfast as well as an appetizer hour. Helpful
staffs make a big difference in making the most of your stay.
THE INN ON OAK CREEK is run by the Morris family,
whose Sedona roots go way back. At the side of the Oak Creek, you´ll
find that the fantastic food and exceptional staff make this the
town´s most charming in. Centrally located, with shopping,
fine dining and art galleries all across the street. The traffic
on Hwy 179 is no asset, but they´ve done a remarkable job
of shielding you from any noise. www.sedona-inn.com
THE LODGE AT SEDONA is run by Ron & Shelley
Wachel, who have made some nice changes since taking over the property.
There staff is especially helpful and friendly. The property features
nice outdoor seating for breakfast, and a labrynth for contemplation.
Centrally located on Sedona's west side. www.lodgeatsedona.com
ALMA DE SEDONA is the newest 4 diamond property,
with ample rooms. Good access to hikes and Indian ruins on Sedona´s
west side. Afterward, it is hard to beat having a drink poolside
with western views of the setting sun. www.lodgeatsedona.com
RESORTS: First Class
ENCHANTMENT is Sedona´s finest resort and
is set in beautiful Boynton Canyon. Features the new Mii Amo spa,
which is lovely. The resort´s remoteness is both its strength
(giving you solitude) and its weakness (making you feel as if you
are commuting to get to Sedona itself).
HOTELS: Value
The SKY RANCH LODGE on Airport Mesa has the best
views for your dollars. In addition, there is a small pool and hot
tub, with a gentle garden. The Airport Restaurant is nearby for
meals.
